Action Selling Sales Training Contributes to Success in Best-in-Class Organizations
Aberdeen reports that instructor-led sales training with program that ensures transfer of knowledge wins more sales every time.

MINNEAPOLIS - Oct. 22, 2009 - Action Selling, leader in sales training and methodology is identified as sales effectiveness provider of sales training for best-in-class companies in a new report from Aberdeen Research Group, the leading provider of fact-based research focused on the global technology-driven value chain. The Aberdeen report studies the training behaviors of best-in-class companies and compares them to average and laggard companies. According to Aberdeen's research, best-in-class organizations select and deploy sales training to create more meaningful sales conversations and enhance the skills of sales forces.

Featured in the report is long-time Action Selling client, Veolia Environmental Services, the world's largest environmental services provider, with a sales force of 125 professionals that sells to a wide variety of business verticals and company sizes. 'Prior to Action Selling sales training there was no unified selling process,' said Mark Dennis, vice president of sales and marketing at Veolia. 'Upon implementation of the Action Selling program, which consisted of benchmarking our sales force, classroom training combined with aggressive online reinforcement and assessment, our sales results changed in a profound way.'

The report reveals what leading companies have been able to achieve through their sales training initiatives, such as:
  • 83% of their sales reps achieve annual quota
  • An average 7% year-over-year increase in annual deal size/contract value
  • Average annual revenue has increased 11% year-over-year
Top-performing sales organizations are meeting the challenges of increasing their companies' revenue, within a constricted economy, by continuing to invest in sales training. Overcoming the barriers of extended buying cycles and constricted budgets within their target markets, the Best-in-Class deploy a wide variety - and usually a blend - of technology and service solutions that are enhancing both the skills of their sales reps as well as crucial, revenue-centric, bottom-line productivity. For the purposes of exploring sales training as a definitive contributor toward overall sales effectiveness, Aberdeen surveyed 517 organizations in July and August, 2009 to understand which kinds of skill development, technology support and other enablers contributed to peak sales results. Sales Training: Translating Tribal Selling Knowledge into Bottom-Line Productivity, which examined 447 organizations using sales training to improve performance, found that leading companies are 2.6 times more likely than Laggards to do so through external sales training providers. 'In the never-ending pursuit for more effective sales results, businesses are constantly evaluating every non-selling hour spent by their reps, as well as the resources allocated to collecting and sharing successful practices among team members,' said Peter Ostrow, research director, sales effectiveness, Aberdeen Group, the report's author. 'Leading companies are maintaining and increasing their spending on sales training, as well as on collaborative efforts to gather, maintain and distribute the most effective content and strategic selling successful practices.'
